Foster Home Feedback

2/13/18: Hi everybody, I am Fetty!! My foster mom says I am such a “catch” she can’t believe I haven’t been adopted yet!! But I don’t mind as I am very happy with my life. I get lots and lots of attention, snuggles, kisses, and companionship from mom and dad, and I get to go with mom to lots of different places like schools and nursing homes where I am sometimes surrounded by gobs of kids all wanting to pet me and my foster brother Harley. We love every human we meet whether they are babies, kids, or oldsters jetting around in their very own scooters. Did I tell you I like other dogs?? Well, I do and have welcomed five other dogs here. There are so many dogs like me who haven’t had such a good life and I am so grateful for the love I get that I am happy to share.  I don’t do a lot of playing with the other dogs here, but I love to have company and a buddy to sleep near.

Mom says I am “perfect” in every way except when I go to Adoption Days at PetSmart. I never bark at all when I am home... not even when the doorbell rings or when my little brother barks like a madman at that nice mailman. But, when I get to PetSmart, there are so many wonderful smells and so many people and dogs to make friends with, I just can’t be quiet!! I don’t know what gets into me and I am so sorry if I have scared anyone when I bark. I cross my heart promise you I am not like that in my home!

This is me in a nutshell...I love people. I sleep quietly in your bedroom or in my open kennel. I don’t jump up ever and I never beg. My medicine to prevent seizures is not expensive ($40 a month) and I am a very low key guy who likes to take a couple of short walks a day in between a few good naps. I am patiently waiting for just the right person or family to give me the forever family I have never had. Is it you??

12/15/17: Merry Christmas from Fetty!!

Fetty remains the most awesome dog ever! It has truly been a gift to have had the privilege of sharing our home with this sweetheart for almost 5 months. He is patient, kind, calm and a friend to every age human and fur buddy alike.

Fetty has been completely seizure free here. His twice a day medication is not expensive (a 3 month supply costs $115 at Sam’s).  A diet free of human food and controlled treats has kept him free of any allergy symptoms.  He does not beg and knows some commands.

When I picked Fetty up at the Evet in August he was almost catatonic after suffering hour-long grand mal seizures because his owner would not give him prescribed meds. With care and lots of love, he is a totally different dog.  This guy is a survivor...not only did he survive those seizures, he also at some point suffered grievous injuries resulting in a crushed ear, loss of an eye and countless scars on his body.  But neither those nor the seizures broke his forgiving nature. He is simply incredible.

Fetty’s ideal home would be one without a lot of steps. His eye loss and the long-term effects of those seizures have made him cautious with steps and he is not a dog that can do any quick jumping into or out of vehicles.  He climbs slowly by himself and is always happy when I give him a little boost. Fetty rarely barks, even when the doorbell rings. He doesn’t ever jump on people or counters. Because his medication makes him thirsty, he will need a home that can provide a noon bathroom break.

This is Fetty in a nutshell. He is patiently waiting for his forever home. And until that happens we are loving every minute of every day

10/23/17: Mr. Fetty continues to be an absolute joy to have in our home.  He has welcomed every dog that comes into our home to live or visit...and never a complaint or speck of trouble with any.  He loves going for short walks, riding in the car, taking naps, watching foster brother Nyle retrieve and play endlessly and follows me as I move about the house, upstairs and down  Last week Fetty was a big hit at Eventide where a room full of residents, family members and staff met him for pats on the head and ear scratches, as they learned all about 4 Luv of Dog Rescue.  What an awesome ambassador for the Pit Bull breed!  Fetty is such a gentle soul...a dog who has not had the best life...but still remains sweet and loving.

10/1/17: So excited to report Fetty is now keeping up with his big foster brothers on longer walks!  Pretty sure he'll never be a jogging companion, but he is walking at a very normal pace.  We are going to a nursing home tomorrow to make more friends

9/20/17: Calm, serene, quiet and a friend to all, describes this wonderful dog.  I have had him 6 weeks while he has recovered from a devastating seizure.  He could hardly walk when I picked him up at the e-vet and slowly he has healed to the point of having small bursts of the zoomies!

Fetty kennels easily and when I know I will be gone more than 2 hours I will kennel him if I know he has recently drank a lot of water. Otherwise, I leave him out. Once he relearned and gained enough strength to climb my steps to the bedroom, he has slept quietly on a dog bed on the floor.   He loves napping in his dog bed close to wherever I am. In the evening my husband allows Fetty on the basement couch while he watches tv.  Otherwise, he can always be found napping and snoring softly in his dog bed.

Since starting phenobarbital Fetty has been seizure free. He takes a pill every 12 hours so he needs a home where his family is able to keep to a schedule.  The medication makes him thirsty and so he needs to have his water intake monitored and be let out after drinking. He has a huge bladder and regularly pees for an amazing 45 seconds at a time!  I feel a home where his owner only works part-time or from home would be ideal. He would be a great dog for grandparents as he has been great with my grandkids.

We go for 6 block walks several times a day; he loves to sniff for pee-mail and tell other dogs he has been out walking. Fetty is a very slow walker.  If you are looking for a fitness walking partner Fetty is NOT that dog.  He is a dog that radiates calmness and has taught me patience and the joy of a slower pace of life.

From the vet records we received, we know Fetty at one point had some allergies and itchy skin. He has been perfect here and happily eats only his kibble...absolutely no dog treats or human food.

I absolutely adore this big boy and if I were ready to stop fostering he would be my forever dog and I would be training him as a therapy dog as he would be awesome!

9/18/17: Fetty has a seizure disorder.  His adopter will need to give his medication on-time and without fail to ensure Fetty stays happy and healthy.  Fetty's medication costs less than $40/month and he will need semi-annual bloodwork done to ensure that his medication is at the right dose.

Fetty does best in one-level homes with minimal stairs.  His medication makes him thirsty, so adopters will need to monitor Fetty's water intake.  Fetty does great with everyone he's met and is excited to find his forever home!
